Masahiro ARAKI
Born in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, he began studying the saxophone at the age of 14.
After graduating from the Music Department of Toride Shoyo High School, he completed his studies at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in 2019. In the same year, he moved to Belgium and enrolled at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees were completed with Grande Distinction (Highest Honors).
Following his graduation in 2022, he continued his studies at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon, obtaining the Diplôme d’Études Musicales (DEM) and graduating unanimously at the top of his class. In 2024, he returned to Belgium and is currently studying in the Music Pedagogy at ARTS² in Mons.
・During his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, he received the François Abeau Award for outstanding academic achievement.
・First Prize winner of the 28th Shimamura Instrument Competition (Woodwind Reed Instrument Division).
・Selected as soloist for the Japanese premiere of a concerto while studying at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
・Invited to perform at the Yamaha New Artists Concert and the Japan Saxophone Society New Artists Concert upon graduation.
・Participation in a contemporary opera project featuring works by John Adams in Paris was met with strong
acclaim from audiences.
・Semifinalist at the 9th Andorra International Saxophone Competition and the 8th Adolphe Sax International Competition.
Alongside his performance career, he is actively engaged in composition and arrangement, presenting original works and producing commissioned pieces.
Studies include saxophone with Kazuhiro Ninomiya, Vincent David, Nicolas Arsenijevic, and Jean-Denis Michat, and chamber music with Takumi Kainuma, Masato Ikegami, and Jérémie David.
